RECENT DEATHS

Jack Frederick Appleby, 84, formerly of Portsmouth, passed away Dec. 31, 2018, at the St. Elizabeth Manor, Bristol. He was the husband of the late Rita Doris (Lafleur) Appleby. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars.

Doris L. Donovan, 80, of Middletown, passed away Jan. 6, 2019, at the Grand Islander Nursing Home. She was the wife of Herbert S. Donovan. A Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, Jan. 11, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church. There are no calling hours.

Commander John J. Flynn, 83, of Newport, passed away Jan. 5, 2019, at St. Clare Home. He was the husband of Commander Mary Taylor Flynn. Calling hours will be Friday, Jan. 11, from 4-7 p.m. at the O’Neill-Hayes Funeral Home. A Memorial Mass will be held in the Spring.

Mary A. Ford, 96, of Newport, passed away Jan. 3, 2019 at St. Clare Home. She was the wife of the late Reginald H. Ford.

Beth Rommel Graham, 71, of Newport, passed away Jan. 2, 2019. She was the wife of the late Harry Bruce Graham.

Sister Angela O’Callaghan, 87, of Newport, passed away Jan. 3, 2019 at St. Clare Home. She entered religious life with the Sisters of St. Joseph of Cluny in 1951.

George Silvia, 98, of Portsmouth, passed away Jan. 2, 2019, at the Grand Islander Nursing Center. He was the husband of the late Mary Margaret (Mello) Silvia. He was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran and served during World War II.
