MARINE SPECTATOR GUIDELINES

• The racing area safety zone will be enforced starting one hour prior to racing.

• During racing events, recreational transit in the East Passage of Narragansett Bay will be around the western (Conanicut Island) perimeter of the Racing Area.

• Newport Harbor is a “no discharge zone.”

• A speed limit of 5mph (no wake) is strictly enforced.

• Anchoring is NOT permitted.

• Please be familiar with NOAA Nautical Chart #13223 which includes the Racing Area.

• Spectators are asked to stay outside of the lines delineated by a "Stake Boats” flying large yellow “Newport RI USA” flags from their rigs. Course Marshals will actively patrol these lines and fly a yellow official flag.

• Boats shall NOT enter the Racing Area at any time without permission.

• Refusal to adhere to any request from Volvo Ocean Race officials may result in action from the U.S. Coast Guard and/or local marine authorities.

• In case of emergency, contact the U.S. Coast Guard on VHF 16.
